Fisherman’s Cottage
Welcome to Fisherman's Cottage, a delightful two bedroom cottage in the heart of the vibrant seaside town of Deal. Steeped in history, the cottage dates back to the 1800s and sits within Deal's conservation area, on what was formerly known as Jews Harp Alley, home to 98 residents, mostly mariners and boatmen. Over the years, it is believed to have been used by fishermen to hang and mend their nets and has also served as a fish cold store, and even a cockle shop. Next door, you'll find a listed property, another nod to the street's rich maritime history. Arranged over three floors, this cottage sleeps four guests in two inviting double bedrooms, offering a sense of privacy and space. The ground floor has tall ceilings that enhance the open-plan layout of the kitchen/diner and cosy sitting room. A small, but sunny decked courtyard offers a lovely spot for morning coffee in the fresh sea air. The cottage has recently been renovated with a brand new, modern bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of thoughtful touches throughout. There is also a useful office nook with a desk, chair and a screen for work or writing. Everything in Deal is within walking distance, just 100 yards from independent shops and coffee shops, to the wide pebble beach and long promenade. Walmer and Kingsdown are just a short stroll away too, making it the perfect base to explore the local area. With beautiful coastal walks, historic castles, and world-class golf courses on your doorstep, there is something here for everyone. Well-behaved dogs are very welcome downstairs too.

There is no parking at the property. The closest car park is on South Street (Middle Street Car Park). To find free parking, we recommend parking on Marine Road or neighbouring roads in Walmer.

- Infants are welcome but please be aware the cottage has not specifically been set up to cater for infants/toddlers. There is no cot or high chair available, but you are welcome to bring your own.
- Pet charge of £25 per pet per stay. Please keep dogs downstairs and off furniture.
- Fisherman’s Cottage is right in the heart of town, surrounded by great restaurants, pubs, and bars. On the occasional Friday or Saturday evening, you might notice some background music from the bar next door. It’s usually only noticeable in the living area - not the bedrooms - so it shouldn’t affect your sleep.
We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages. Should any damages arise please note charges may apply.
- Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
- For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property and no charging of vapes or e-scooters.
- Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside or outside the property at any time.
- Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
- Please be respectful to neighbours.
- Parties and loud music are not permitted.
