10 Romantic Things to do in Kent This Valentine’s Day

27 February 2026
amy

With Valentine’s Day 2026 falling on a Saturday, it’s the perfect time to escape with your better half. We may be biased, but we can’t think of anywhere more romantic than the Garden of England – the county where rolling countryside meets the sparkling southern coast. From spectacular winter sunrise walks to wine tasting at English vineyards, here are our top 10 romantic things to do in Kent this Valentine’s Day.

Wine tasting

Between Kent and its beautiful neighbour, East Sussex, there are plenty of stunning spaces where you can sip something special, and local. We’ve rounded up some of our favourites here. It’s also good to know that Chapel Down’s Kit’s Coty Coeur de Cuvée 2016 won an accolade of awards in 2025. From riding bikes together through the vines to enjoying a delicious tasting menu to complement the wine, wine tasting is one of our favourite fun things to do in Kent for couples.

A really good walk (with pub lunch)

Is it even a weekend away if you don’t factor a good old-fashioned stomp into the itinerary? There are plenty of walking routes to enjoy throughout the county, including segments of the England Coast Path, Saxon Shore Way, the Crab and Winkle Way and the Aylesford Rail Trail – to name just a few. As the oldest county in England, you’re also guaranteed to stumble across a characterful pub or two along your way.

Watch the sea from a cosy coastal cottage

That’s right – we have an entire collection of cottages with sea views, meaning you don’t even have to brave the February freeze to get your fix of those beautiful blues. Picture you and your loved one cuddling up atop a window seat, watching the light change over the channel.

Visit a foodie hotspot

Any epicurean will already be aware of Kent’s reputation within the culinary scene. From Michelin-starred restaurants such as Fordwich Arms and The Sportsman to bucket-list bakeries such as STAPLE, there is a lot to be enjoyed. For characterful ambience and cuisine that could win anyone over, Deal’s The Rose is a favourite, while Margate’s Angela’s has far-reaching renown.

Watch the sunrise

The east-facing beaches and reasonable sunrise time of around 7 am during February in Kent mean that watching the sunrise can become a daily ritual. We can’t think of many things more romantic than tumbling out of bed straight onto the beach with your favourite person – great cup of coffee optional. Want to be within a hop, skip and a jump of the sea? Take a look at our coastal cottages.

A sauna and sea dip: Shared experiences are the glue that holds a relationship together, so why not head for your nearest Sea Scrub Sauna for a hot and cold water therapy session that is certain to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Catch a film in an independent cinema

If your other half is a keen cinephile, or it’s just been a while since you managed to carve out time for a movie night, Kent is teeming with charming independent cinemas perfect for a visit. We’ve listed some below:

Muse over art exhibitions

There is a wealth of galleries throughout Kent, ranging from the local and small to the renowned Turner Contemporary in Margate. Often shaped by the lifestyle of living beside the sea, many galleries are also host to crafts in other forms – either way, you might just stumble across the perfect Valentine’s gift.

Visit a charming country house or castle

Nothing says romance like frolicking around the grounds of a glorious stately home or castle. Go for an enchanted, ancient feel straight from a fairytale at Scotney Castle, or admire the handsome home of Sir Winston Churchill at Chartwell. Explore all sites across Kent with both English Heritage and the National Trust.

Stay somewhere with romantic features

Many of our cottages were made for romantic stays – think roll-top bathtubs, inglenook fireplaces and views that anyone would fall in love with. From old fisherman’s cottages steps from the shoreline to storybook countryside hideaways, you can explore them all here.
