February half-term in Kent, from 16th to 20th February, is the perfect time for families to explore, play, and make special memories together. Whether you’re discovering historic castles, getting up close with wildlife or getting crafty indoors, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Kids Go Free at Howletts Wild Animal Park

Young conservationalists will delight in a trip to Howlett’s Wild Animal Park near Canterbury, a sanctuary to more than 390 animals and a breeding centre for rare and endangered species. There is lots to love about this special place, including the level of care and attention that goes into each enclosure. Little ones – who go free throughout February half-term – will love attractions such as the Woodland Walk and play areas.

Bugs, Boots & Backpacks at Hever Castle

A hands-on outdoor adventure, Bugs, Boots & Backpacks is designed to get families into the great outdoors together this February half term. Based around the grounds of Hever Castle, you’ll be able to build bug hotels, create clay creatures and learn all about what makes critters and crawlies so important – muddy puddle-jumping optional.

Dockyard Deckhands at The Historic Dockyard Chatham

When? 14th – 22nd February

Where: The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, Kent ME4 4TZ

Calling all keen pirates, sailors and others looking to make some maritime memories – the Dockyard Deckhand experience invites apprentices to come and try their hand at skill stations inspired by the old trades that once brought the dock to life. Once you’ve graduated from the skill stations, you’ll be able to go and collect your pin badge based on your chosen trade.

The Dino Hunt at Betteshanger Park

When? 14th February – 27th March

Where: Betteshanger Park, Sandwich Road, Deal, Kent, CT14 0BF

This February half-term, step into a prehistoric world at Betteshanger Park. The little ones will love to discover life-sized dinosaur models hidden throughout the park whilst using their adventure map to solve clues and uncover a prize! The trail will run from 14th February until the 27th March, but you might want to attend Dino Day on the 22nd February, which promises an action-packed adventure of slime workshops, fossil hunting, dart football and much more!

The Gruffalo & The Gruffalo’s Child at Kent & East Sussex Railway

When? 18th & 19th February

Where: Tenterden Town Station (TN30 6HE)

The Gruffalo is coming to Kent this February half-term! Enjoy a magical steam train journey followed by a meet & greet with the Gruffalo & the Gruffalo’s Child. Each little one will receive a complimentary storybook, activity sheet, crayon, biscuit and juice to enjoy during the scenic journey. When you return to the station, The Gruffalo & The Gruffalo’s Child will be waiting to meet families, wave hello and pose for photos, so don’t forget your camera.

February Half-Term at Leeds Castle

Want to make some medieval-themed memories in regal surroundings? The whole family can get involved at Leeds Castle, where the fascinating facts, experiences and insights of the Royal Court await.
