What to do in Deal this Christmas

With lots of events taking place in Deal over the festive period, it’s one of the best times of year to visit the town. Take a look at our Christmas availability, book now and get in the Christmas spirit with some of the events, markets and shows taking place in the town. Here’s a taste of what to look forward to, along with some dates for the diary.

Christmas Lights Switch on

November 17th – 7pm
Deal High street
Live music and Santa Claus

Come along to see Deal light up for the festive season, meet Santa and enjoy live music. A great way to start feeling Christmassy as December approaches.

Christmas Clay Wreath at Walmer

Thursday 30th November
Walmer Castle

Join local sculptor Brenda Burgees as she leads a creative workshop on how to make your very own centrepiece for your table.

The Astor Christmas Fayre

December 2nd 10-3pm
Free entry

Browse through a selection of beautiful hand crafted gifts. Theres also a festive lucky dip for kids and popular tombola.

Haydens Te Deum

Saturday 2nd December, 7.30pm
St Mary’s Church Walmer

Join St Mary’s church for Handel’s Coronation Anthems and a selection of Christmas music

Christmas Tours

Thursday 7th December – Thursday 21st December
Walmer Castle and Gardens
3pm & 6pm

With the Castle’s rooms specially decorated for the season, you can take tours out of hours. Not to be missed.

Carols around the tree

December 13th 7.30-8.30
St Nicholas Church, Sholden, Deal

If you’re feeling in fine voice, join St Nicholas Church for traditional carols around the tree with a live band. Even better there will be mince pies and mulled wine afterwards.

Enchanted Lantern Festival

Fri 15- Mon 18th Dec, 5pm-8pm
Walmer Castle and Gardens

Take a walk around Walmer Castle’s famous gardens, adorned with lanterns around an enchanted trail. You can even make your own lantern to add to the display.

Carols at The Bandstand

December 16th 17.00- 20.00
Deal Memorial Bandstand

With music by the Victory Wartime Band, there will be a mixture of christmas songs and carols. Afterwards is the Christmas Carnival, organised by the Deal Carnival Association.

A Christmas Carol Read by Mr Charles Dickens

December 20th, doors 7pm

Astor Community Theatre

Come and watch one of our best loved Christmas stories, told by the author himself. It promises to be a special performance.

Boxing Day Dip

December 26th 11am
Deal Pier

Watch this local tradition, where locals run into the in fancy dress on Boxing Day morning. All in the name of charity. Spending the morning on the beach is a great cure to a post-Christmas hangover.
