St Mary’s House is set in the village of Worth, a peaceful rural pocket of east Kent where open countryside and winding lanes create an immediate sense of calm. Surrounded by farmland and big skies, this is a place that feels quietly removed, yet never remote. Gentle walks can be picked up straight from the village, with footpaths leading through fields and along hedgerows that shift beautifully with the seasons, making it an ideal house for stays all year round.
One of Worth’s great strengths is its position between coast and countryside. Within a short drive you can be in Deal, enjoying the seafront, pier and lively independent high street, or exploring the mediaeval streets, riverside walks and cafés of Sandwich. The historic city of Canterbury is also easily reached, offering history, shopping and dining alongside its world-famous Cathedral. Closer to home, Wingham provides excellent local pubs and a charming village feel (one of our favourites is The Dog ), while the coast at St Margaret’s Bay offers bracing walks and dramatic views beneath the White Cliffs.
With easy access to so many of east Kent’s highlights, St Mary’s House works beautifully for guests wanting variety during their stay. You can also get the train to London within an hour or two from any of the local train stations (1.5 hours from Deal). Whether you’re splitting your time between beach days, countryside walks and historic towns, or simply enjoying a slower pace with everything close by, it offers a wonderfully balanced base for both short breaks and longer stays.
