The Abode
The Abode is a stylish 15th century holiday cottage in the heart of historic Sandwich. This ancient Cinque Ports town, renowned for being one of the few complete mediaeval towns in the UK, is wonderful to stroll around and enjoy the many antique and independent boutique shops, restaurants and cafes, and many historic buildings, as well as the pretty riverside.
Tastefully decorated whilst maintaining its historic charm, the cottage has a sociable open plan sitting / dining room with French doors leading out onto the courtyard, a fully equipped kitchen and upstairs are two luxurious bedrooms, one with a roll top bath, and the shower room.
Outside is a lovely sunny and enclosed walled courtyard garden with dining set and parasol, and sofa and chairs, offering the perfect place to sit and relax after a busy day exploring Sandwich and further afield. There is also a ninja grill and smoker, for those that enjoy cooking on the BBQ.
The Abode is also ideal for golfers with the three championship course of Royal St. George's, Prince's and Royal Cinque Ports just a few minutes drive away.

One hour free parking outside the property for unloading and also between 8am and 6pm and all day Sunday. Free parking and paid car parks close by.

Sandwich
The Abode is set in the heart of Sandwich, one of England’s best-preserved mediaeval towns and a former Cinque Port steeped in history and charm. The town’s narrow streets, timber-framed buildings and quiet riverside setting create a wonderfully timeless atmosphere, where life feels unhurried and beautifully grounded. Everything is easily explored on foot, from historic landmarks to tucked-away cafés and independent shops.
Sandwich offers a rich mix of culture and everyday pleasures, with the Guildhall Museum, ancient churches and riverside quay all close by. Independent cafés, delis and welcoming pubs line the streets, while the River Stour provides a peaceful backdrop for strolls and boat trips. Just beyond the town, the formal Salutation Gardens and the impressive remains of Richborough Roman Fort add depth to days out, while Sandwich Bay offers wide, open beaches backed by dunes and nature reserves.
Golfers are particularly well placed, with Royal St George’s, Prince’s and Royal Cinque Ports all nearby, while coastal walks and cycle routes open up the surrounding landscape.
